Where Levels of Stone Exposure Work Best:
Commercial and Retail Spaces
-
Durability and Traffic Resistance: Polished concrete can handle heavy foot traffic and wear, making it perfect for places like shopping malls, showrooms, and grocery stores.
- Aesthetic Appeal: Its shiny finish reflects light beautifully, making commercial spaces look brighter and more attractive to customers.
Warehouses and Industrial Facilities
- Resilience to Wear & Tear: Polished concrete stands up well to heavy machinery, forklifts, and spills, which are common in these environments.
- Ease of Maintenance: It’s easy to clean—just regular sweeping and occasional damp mopping are needed, which helps keep maintenance costs low.
Offices and Corporate Buildings
- Versatility in Design: Polished concrete comes in various finishes, fitting well with different office styles from modern to traditional.
- Improved Indoor Air Quality: Unlike carpets, polished concrete doesn’t trap allergens, dust, or mold, which helps create a healthier workspace.
Residential Settings
- Sustainability: For those who care about the environment, polished concrete uses existing concrete slabs, reducing the need for new materials.
- Thermal Efficiency: It helps regulate indoor temperatures, which can lower heating and cooling costs.
Educational and Healthcare Facilities
- Low Maintenance and Hygiene: Its easy-to-clean surface is ideal for places where cleanliness is crucial, like schools and hospitals.
- Slip Resistance: Polished concrete can be finished to meet specific slip-resistance standards, making it safer for everyone.
Restaurants and Food Service Areas
- Resistance to Stains and Moisture: Properly sealed polished concrete floors resist stains and moisture, which is important in areas prone to spills.
- Health and Safety: Its non-porous surface doesn’t support microbial growth, making it suitable for places focused on hygiene.
Automotive Showrooms and Garages
- Reflective Surface: The glossy finish highlights vehicles in showrooms by reflecting their shapes and colors vividly.
- Oil and Chemical Resistance: With the right sealant, polished concrete can resist oil, grease, and chemicals, making it great for garages and service areas.
Frequently asked questions
Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers.
How long before I can walk on polished concrete?
Once Mechanically Polished Concrete is complete, you can walk on it immediately. However, avoid exposing it to water for 24-72 hours. For epoxy coatings or Grind & Seal floors, we recommend avoiding foot traffic for 24 hours and heavy traffic (such as vehicles) for 7 days.
How much dust can I expect?
Yes, but for outdoor areas, we recommend honed concrete rather than MPC. Honed concrete is slip- resistant and durable, making it perfect for driveways, around pools, and other outdoor spaces.
